DJI Phantom II ( 2nd generation ) to be launched

Postby Richard » Fri Sep 06, 2013 5:46 pm

He guys word on the street is that there is a new gen (2nd) DJI Phantom coming out.

Don't worry if you have a first gen as anyone that bought a Phantom ( before 9th,Sep,2013)can fill out a form and claim $150 off of a Phantom 2 OR the New Phantom Vision.

No idea how the new phantom differs from the old but my Guess might be that they will use the Visions shell because it is bigger to carry a larger battery and electronics.

other idea's:

Better motors?
flight controller?
hexacopter?
450 size or bigger (so it can handle DJI's new H3-3D gimbal?)

They are aiming for a launch date in Nov (but we all know DJI's history with launch dates)

I wouldn't think that's the new version, but it might be.

Looks like an 'added value' original. It's about time they shipped it with a manual, the props amuse me as quote they need to be balanced, because few customers in the target market would know how to do that, plus they need to buy a balancer!

That's why I don't think it's the version 2, because of the balancing of the props. Also, I would think that a version 2 would have the phantom upgrade board as standard so the Zenmuse actually becomes a plug-in, and there's no mention of that.

No please no, the new board needs connections for iOSD!

Doesn't the iOSD just connect to the PMU v2?

The PMU v2 is integrated on the new board, not a separate unit and from all the tales and stories so far, there is no possible connection for the iOSD, mini or otherwise since there are no CAN-Bus ports

So, really, the Phantom v2 is probably going to be the same(ish) as the Vision but without the camera - it would be easier to produce two models with only one case ?

I'd guess at; Screw on props, Status indicator via the rear arm LED's (as well as standard LED), Bigger batt and battery on/off switch . . . and who knows maybe a compartment that opens to allow you to fit a Vision camera.

Any other "guesses" :?:

I think the DJI coffers might be quite full very soon.

Probably not an "official" date, but B&H Photo in the US seems to think they'll have the Visions for sale in November. See: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/9 ... ision.html

Came across this video of Colin with a Vision.

http://youtu.be/Rht-QarvEM4

Looks pretty good. So I'm waiting for a phantom vision shell to build my V1 into... 5.8gHz radio for the control of the quad. I wonder if that is more resilient to flyaways?

I found it interesting if you have 20 minutes.
